Here are the questions that come up most often. If yours isn't listed, write to us and we'll get back to you.
support@lioraflow.comI can't hear anything
The spoken translation only plays with headphones on, wired or Bluetooth. This is on purpose: if it played through the phone's speaker it would disturb the person next to you and get mixed up with the actual voices in the room.
Plug in some headphones and it will start playing on its own, without leaving the app. In the meantime you can follow the event by reading the subtitles.
No rooms appear
The app only shows rooms when an event is broadcasting at that moment. There are no open rooms waiting.
If the event hasn't started yet, or has already ended, there won't be anything. Close the app and open it again when it starts.
Before you start
Do I have to sign up? No. There are no accounts, no email, no password. You open the app, choose a language and go in. Do I need Wi-Fi? You don't need the venue's Wi-Fi: it works on your mobile data. Any connection will do. What do I need to bring? Your phone, and some headphones if you'd rather listen to the translation than read it. Does it work on my phone? On iPhone with iOS 16.6 or later, and on Android 7.0 or later.During the event
My language isn't there The languages are decided by whoever organizes the event, and not all of them carry the same ones. When you go in you'll only see the ones that are active at that moment, and they can change from one event to the next. If one you need is missing, tell the organization: they can add it without you having to update anything. Some languages can be listened to and others only read That's normal. Of the active languages, some carry audio and others only text. The language being spoken always comes without audio: that's what the room itself is for. The subtitles are lagging behind A delay of a few seconds is normal: the system has to hear the whole sentence before it can translate it well. If the delay goes over half a minute or the text stops altogether, it's usually the connection. It cut out Leave the room and go back in. If it still doesn't work, close the app completely and open it again. If the person speaking has stopped broadcasting, there's nothing you can do from your phone. I want to change language partway through the event You can, from the selector at the top, without leaving the room or missing anything. The screen turns off while I'm reading That's your phone's battery saving. If you're going to follow the event by reading, increase the auto-lock time in your phone's settings.Rooms with a QR code
Why am I being asked to scan a code? Some events have restricted access. In those cases the QR code is shown in the room itself, and scanning it is what gets you in. Being present is the requirement. I scanned it and it says the code isn't valid It can be for three reasons:- The event has ended. The code stops working when the broadcast stops.
- A new code has been generated. Ask for the one on screen now.
- You scanned a photo or an old screenshot. Codes aren't reused.
For whoever organizes the event
The broadcast button doesn't appear Broadcast mode is only enabled on devices the organization has registered beforehand. You need the device identifier, which appears at the bottom right of the screen, next to the version number, and can be selected and copied. Pass it to the person in charge at your organization; once they authorize it, close the app and open it again. It says the room is busy That room is broadcasting from another device, and there can only be one source at a time. Wait for it to finish, or use another room. I want to remove someone who got in and shouldn't have Generate a new QR code from within the app. The previous one stops working instantly, and anyone still in the room will have to scan the one that appears on screen again.Privacy and data
What data do you collect? A random device identifier, which the app generates on its own and which contains no personal data. It's what lets the app work without forcing you to create an account. On top of that, two usage facts: that the app has been opened, and which language was chosen. We don't ask for your location, contacts, photos or files, and there are no ads or advertising profiles. What about the microphone? It's only used on devices authorized to broadcast, and only while broadcasting. In following mode —the one for people attending the event— it's never used. Is what's said recorded? Nothing is stored on your phone. The audio is translated on the spot and sent to whoever is following the event. I want you to delete my data Write to us at support@lioraflow.com with the device identifier, which you'll find at the bottom right in the app, and we'll delete it.
